I'm taking on the Crunches Challenge this June for Dementia Australia
Lets talk about Dementia!
>> Demographics & Prevalence in NSW
• Total Prevalence: The 145,700 NSW residents living with the condition are projected to reach 252,800 by 2054.
• Young Onset Dementia: There are an estimated 9,200 people under the age of 65 living with younger onset dementia in NSW.
• National Statistics: Across Australia, over 446,500 people are living with dementia, and this figure is projected to exceed 1 million by 2065.
>> Health & Care Insights
• Leading Cause of Death: Dementia is responsible for roughly 1 in 10 deaths nationally. It is the leading cause of death among Australian women and the second for men.
• Residential Care: Over half of all residents in permanent residential aged care facilities across Australia are living with dementia.
• Hospitalisations: In recent data, there were over 23,000 dementia related hospital admissions in NSW among residents aged 65 and over.
