This month I’m taking on the Crunches Challenge for Dementia Australia, and while the physical challenge is real, the reason behind it matters so much more.

Every day at Rockpool Residential Aged Care, we walk alongside people living with dementia, not just supporting their care, but truly understanding their story, their rhythm, and what brings them comfort and joy. It’s a privilege, and it’s also a constant reminder of how deeply dementia affects individuals, families and communities.

Participating in this challenge is my small way of shining a light on something we see every day. It’s about raising awareness, backing the incredible work of Dementia Australia, and helping to ensure there is more education, more support, and more connection available for those who need it.

At Rockpool, we believe life doesn’t stop with a diagnosis. It continues, with purpose, with dignity, and with moments that still matter. That belief shapes everything we do; from the way we design our homes to the way we create meaningful experiences for residents and their families.

So yes, there will be crunches (and crunchies), plenty of them. But behind every one is a deeper commitment, to support, to advocate, and to keep doing better for the people we care for every day.
