Fellas take on the Channel
It's pretty rare these
days to not have a connection with dementia - whether it be a direct relative
or friend living with dementia, their families or carers.
We're setting out to
swim the English Channel in July and thought it would be a great chance to
raise awareness and funds for those affected by dementia.
But we need your
help. Whilst we get keen for the clear,
warm waters of the channel, we'd really appreciate any support you could
provide and help us reach our goal to beat dementia.
All funds raised will
support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for
people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include
counselling, support groups, education and training.

A deep sea of opportunity
Thursday 18th Apr The North Sea, also known as Oceanus Britannicus, the British Sea or La Manche (if you’re French), is one of the most recognisable bodies of water this side of the Atlantic. With an area of some 75,000 square km, it is the smallest of the shallow seas covering the continental shelf of Europe, but boy does it pack a punch. Tides in the Channel are strong and semidurnal (twice-daily), pushing even the toughest swimmers to their limits in their quest to conquer the 33km long expanse. The fastest swim across the Channel is a little over 7 hours. What should you expect from us? A time that is significantly slower. But you can also hope to see a few battlers giving it a real crack. No amount of accidentally swallowed salt water, cramps or chafing will prevent us from achieving our goal and raising money for a fantastic cause close to our hearts.
