Crunches Challenge 2026

We are taking on the Crunches Challenge this June for Dementia Australia

Currently, it is estimated that more than 446,500 Australians are living with dementia. Without a significant intervention, the number of Australians living with dementia is expected to increase to more than 1 million by 2065.

Your contribution will make a world of difference for people impacted by dementia, every donation big or small counts!

Thank you so much for your support.

Our why

Sunday 31st May

Families often talk about love being the thread that holds everyone together. For us, that thread has been our mum: gentle, warm, and endlessly loving. A number of years ago, she was diagnosed with dementia, and while the illness has slowly changed parts of her world, her heart has remained the same.

For as long as possible, Mum has been able to stay in the home she loves, with our dad as her full time caregiver. He has been her anchor, patient, devoted, and determined to give her the comfort and familiarity she deserves. But caring for someone with dementia is demanding, and recently our family faced another challenge. Dad suffered a stroke.

The stroke has made daily life more difficult, and Dad can no longer manage everything on his own. As children, we do everything we can while balancing work, our own families, and the emotional weight of watching someone we love slowly slip away in moments. But we have reached a point where we need extra help to ensure Mum is safe, supported, and surrounded by the care she deserves.

There are days when Mum forgets where she is. There are moments when she looks at us with uncertainty, unsure of our names or how we fit into her world. Those moments are heartbreaking. But even when the memories fade, one thing has never left her. The love she carries for her family and her grandchildren is still there. It shines through in her smile, in the way she reaches for our hands, and in the warmth that fills a room when she is surrounded by the people she loves.

Our family’s journey is only one of many. Dementia affects countless Australians, and the need for support, education, and resources is greater than ever. This is why we are raising funds for Dementia Australia. Their work provides vital assistance to families like ours, offering guidance, advocacy, and programs that help people living with dementia maintain dignity, connection, and quality of life.

By supporting this fundraiser, you are not only honouring our mum. You are helping thousands of families across the country who are navigating the same challenges, fears, and moments of love that we experience every day.

If you are able to contribute, share our story, or simply send your support, we are deeply grateful. Every gesture helps Dementia Australia continue their important work and ensures that families facing dementia never have to walk this path alone.
