For the sufferer and their loved ones, dementia changes life as you know it- turning it inside out and upside down. Through the changes, challenges and upheaval, the love for that person never dies- it only grows stronger. Mum suffered with dementia for approximately 9 years. It chipped away at the person she was, but that person never completely disappeared- her essence was still there. Dementia doesn't just affect memory- it changes awareness, personality, behaviour, problem-solving, logic and the ability to do daily living tasks. It affects everything that the brain does. We just hope that the key to prevention is found soon and that our contribution can make some difference. Vivien xx
