For a number of years, I watch my beautiful grandmother Mary struggle has her brain betrayed her. Her memory not what it was, lost moments she could no longer recall, the frustration and distress it caused her when she couldn't remember or would make a mistake. she passed 13 years ago. 

This year in 2024, my best friend lost her dad. He too was plagued with the cruel disease that is dementia. It hurt me to see that despite medical advances in so many fields, this disease still needed so much more work to make the lives of those living with dementia, better and safer.
