This November I’m taking part in the 5km A Day Your Way challenge with Dementia Australia.

Each day in November I’ll be completing 5km a day, however I wish.

Every kilometre I complete, and dollar raised, helps support the 446,500 Australians living with dementia and the 1.7 million who care for them.

Dementia Statistics

Tuesday 3rd Nov
Total Population with Dementia: ~446,500 people in 2026, projected to more than double to over 1 million by 2065.
Gender Breakdown: Roughly 63% of Australians living with dementia are women and 37% are men.
Young Onset Dementia: An estimated 29,000 Australians aged 18 to 65 are living with young onset dementia.
Childhood Dementia: An estimated 1,500 children live with childhood dementia in Australia.
Carers: Around 1.7 million Australians are actively involved in the care of someone living with dementia.
Living Situation: Nearly two-thirds of people with dementia live in the community rather than residential aged care.
