My target 250 kms

I’m riding in Pedal the Map to make a difference for people living with dementia!

Both my parents had dementia in one form or another. Dad had alzheimer's disease and passed away from it in July 2021. Mum had vascular dementia and joined Dad in January this year.

This October I’m riding to raise funds to support people with dementia.

My contribution will help complete the Lap of the Map!

Please help me reach my goal by making a donation. It only takes a minute and any amount you can give will go a long way to fund medical and social research and support the vital services, support groups and education programs that Dementia Australia provides to people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Thank you for your support.

My Updates

My goals achieved, but the work is not finished.

Monday 30th Oct
A month ago I set myself 2 targets - to ride 250kms in October, and to raise $500 for Dementia Australia while doing so.
I'm so pleased to announce I have achieved both.
I passed my km target today with a final 23km cruise along the Warby rail trail.
To put this 250km target in perspective, in the 5 previous months I averaged only 67kms per month!
The fundraising target surprisingly proved to be the easiest, in fact I'm stoked to say I have more than doubled the $500 objective.
However, it's not too late to contribute to the campaign. Both my parents died with Dementia, and I meet sufferers every day due to my work as a Patient Transport Officer. It is a terrible disease. Please help me raise funds for more research to help eradicate it.

An amazing milestone achieved

Sunday 22nd Oct
Over $1000 has been contributed to my Dementia Australia campaign so far! As you may be aware, I'm doing this challenge in memory of both my parents, so it's not hard to be motivated, but the support from everyone has given me even more motivation. Thank you all so much. But, of course, if you haven't already contributed, please help me raise more funds for this great casue.

On the cycling front, last week I completed 2 rides bringing my total up to 183 kms, so only 67 to go to complete the challenge by the end of October. Hoping that the poor weather forecast for the next week won't stop me.

Half Way

Saturday 14th Oct
Well it's 14 days into the month, and I'm going well. I have completed 5 rides for a total of 134kms. It looks like I'm might have to up my kilometre target a bit, but let's not get carried away just yet.
Speaking of targets, thanks to everyone that has helped me smash my fund-raising target. I'm now sitting at $734, which is absolutely fantastic. However, now I would love to crack the $1000 mark, so if you haven't yet contributed, please consider - it's not too late.

Thank you for your gift
