I'm raising funds for people with dementia!
I'm lucky to be participating in a relay to swim in Australia's only tropical Island swim marathon. It's a whopping 20km around beautiful Great Keppel Island on Sunday 24th July

I've doing it in honour of my dear gentle Dad, Barrie,& raise funds for Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.
I owe it to Dad, (& Mum) that I'm in the privileged position to take part in this event.
He loved swimming, body surfing, and travel. He was the driving force behind me being a swimmer- He even built our family pool with 2 lanes!
He invested years getting me out of bed at ridiculous hours, driving me to swim training and countless carnivals, documenting times and being active in our local swim club.
In his retirement, as a pioneer volunteer for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, he managed to land his dream role: get a poolside position, mixing it with famous Olympic swimmers!
Dad loved swimming right into his 80's, when he could still pull off a few short laps of freestyle WITHOUT goggles- amazing. Needless to say, Ill be wearing goggles & most likely a wetsuit in this swim as its forecast to be cool.
Anytime the going gets tough, I'll be thinking of him and the sacrifices he & Mum gladly made for me.
