I'm raising funds for people with dementia!
But I need your help! Please make a donation to support my efforts and help me reach my goal to beat dementia.
This is an ongoing, in office campaign to raise awareness and funds for dementia by being 'Dotty' for as long as one is able for the entire month of June, ending 30/06/2023.
It can be anything:
- Have an extreme makeover that is completely out of character
- Do a daring feat you would normally not do
- Just dress up in dots and spots or very loud colours in public and don't hide it in any way
- Commit to eliminating your favourite food or passtime for as long as you can before the 30th of June
- Support your peers and spread the word to raise as much funds as possible as a whole for this.
For me, I suffer from scalp psoriasis and normally keep my hair shaved to the skin on the back and sides to manage it. The longer hair at the top is a vanity project to shape my face, but I also bleach that constantly to equally control what my skin is doing.
The last 2 months, I have been letting my hair grow out in preparation. It's been extremely uncomfortable, itchy and looks terrible to the point I now wear a hat at all times to cover it up. Near the end of this month, if I reach my goal, I will shave every bit of it off and then promptly paint my head in dots. If I can wrangle it, I will also have dots painted in henna over as much exposed skin as I can manage, which will be visible for weeks on my skin.
I am pretty self conscious about my looks, but my stepfather suffers more than I ever would day to day. A few weeks of looking odd is nothing in comparison to that.
All funds raised will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.
Thank you for your support.
