MISS COMPASSIONATE AMBASSADOR 2026 "BEYOND BOUNDARIES"

We're raising funds for people with dementia and their families, a cause that is intimately personal to me. For many years, I have been the primary carer for my beautiful mum. Navigating dementia is a journey of profound love, but also immense daily challenge. My mum constantly shadows me and experiences severe anxiety if I am out of her sight. She often wanders around the house switching off everyday appliances, like the rice cooker, and her confusion and distress intensify deeply at night.

This impacts our entire household, including her grandson who is trying to study for his HSC. Yet, despite the exhaustion, our family loves her unconditionally and we are fiercely determined to keep her safely at home with us. One of the greatest hurdles is that she will only listen to me and becomes highly anxious with outside carers, making it incredibly difficult for me to balance work and her constant need for reassurance.

I know this unspoken struggle is shared by so many families in the Vietnamese community and across all cultural backgrounds. Through the Miss Compassionate Ambassador 2026 "Beyond Boundaries", I would like to show these families that they are not alone.

All funds raised will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families, and carers.
