We're raising funds for people with dementia!

Many of us know or have heard about someone afflicted by dementia. In fact, statistics show that dementia is now the second leading cause of death of Australians and the leading cause of death for women. With this in mind, the SRC has selected Dementia Australia as our first fundraising charity (as voted by our staff) for the year.

Dementia Australia supports those affected by Dementia by providing  a help line and counselling services, as well as  social support, cafe support and programs to keep the mind active.

Dementia Australia exists to support and empower the estimated half a million Australians living with dementia and almost 1.6 million people involved in their care. Dementia is the second leading cause of death in Australia yet remains one of the most challenging and misunderstood conditions.

Founded by carers more than 35 years ago, today Dementia Australia are the national peak body for Australians impacted by dementia.

They involve people who have been impacted by dementia  in their activities and decision-making, to ensure that they are representing  the diverse range of dementia experiences across Australia. They amplify the voices of people impacted by dementia through advocating and sharing stories to help inform and support others.


All funds raised by the SRC will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.
