John Mahony wasn’t just a familiar face around Wodonga, he was part of the town’s heartbeat. Whether he was sharing a yarn over a cold beer, cheering on mates from the clubhouse, or watching drives sail down the 10th fairway from his back porch, John brought warmth, humour, and genuine community spirit everywhere he went.
A lifelong golf tragic and proud member and former Chairman of the Committee of the Wodonga Golf Club, John spent more than 30 years living beside the 10th hole, keeping a close eye on anyone brave enough to take on the big gum tree.
After a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer’s, John passed away in November 2025. This golf day is all about honouring him the way he would’ve wanted. Good mates, good laughs, a hit of golf, and maybe a beer or two.
Let’s swing hard, smile wide, and celebrate a bloke who made Wodonga a better place.
