Running for my mum and dementia

By Alice Jamieson

I'm raising funds for people with dementia!

My beautiful mum was diagnosed with a rare form of dementia in 2017, primary progressive aphasia. Despite this isolating and incredibly cruel disease, she continues to be the most inspiring, kind, compassionate and resilient person I know. As a first time mum with a 10 month old, I am reminded everyday how special the bond is with your mum - it’s forever and there is no one like them. I am challenging myself to run 10km at the Rottnest Running Festival (with my mum cheering me on of course!), to raise money for dementia.

I know my mum would encourage me to always help others and to be kind - so I hope this can also contribute to other individuals and loved ones, also navigating this challenging journey.
