Casual for a Cause

SDRC Staff Casual for a Cause raising funds for people with dementia.

During December 2022 and January 2023, SDRC is raising money for Dementia Australia as nominated by Steve Brown, Information Technology Coordinator.

Steve said, "Just over ten years ago, my father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. At the time, we were all in denial, not realising how bad it would eventually get. This is a terrifying disease that has taken him away, piece by piece. It is horrible seeing it happen and knowing that there is nothing you can do to stop it. Almost as horrible is watching the emotional toll it takes on carers who for the most part are respected for their efforts, but also suffer indignity on a daily basis.

Dementia Australia exists to support and empower the estimated half a million Australians living with dementia and almost 1.6 million people involved in their care.

Dementia is the second leading cause of death in Australia yet remains one of the most challenging and misunderstood conditions.
