Run for Pa! Raising Awareness for Dementia
20km for 20 years in the Dreamtime - Dennis ‘Doong’ Kerrin
On Saturday November 15, the Kerrin sisters - Kyra and Michelle - are planning to run, walk and ride 20km for our Dads 20th anniversary. Our goal is to raise awareness, even just a little, for Dementia. A disease that took our Dad and many of our family members too early. A disease that one day might well soon take us too. We raise awareness for him, our family, those affected by it, and the carers who go through so much.
We want to celebrate our Pa’s life - his story deserves to live on. This one’s for you Pa x
SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER
Laps of 7km around Nightcliff/Rapid Creek from Sunset Park, Nightcliff.
Lap 1 - from 4:15am
Lap 2 - from 5:15am
Lap 3 - from 6:15am
7:30am - BBQ, coffee van and yarns
It’s an early start but we want to beat the heat. Feel free to run/walk/ride the whole way, or join us on a lap of your choosing (each lap is close to 7km long), meet us anywhere along the route or when we finish up - approx. 7:15am - at the end. We will go through Sunset park each lap- 3 laps in total. The timings are estimates, so will continue to share our location on the day. My friends Elle and Yasmin will be at Sunset Park to greet you if you come after we have started and can provide you with information about our live tracking. You can also contact us to let us know you'll be meeting us out there and we'll do our best to make it easy for you.
Dementia Australia Darwin will join us along with a coffee van and food from 7:30am. When we finish, we would love to share with you the story of our Dad and the effects of Dementia on our family.
