I'm raising funds for people with dementia!
I hope to be the first person to travel the 1992 km possible by boat Murray River +4 km up and back the Darling River to make it a total of 2000 km in a solar-powered boat.
I will be starting at Yarrawonga on 26 December 2023 and hope to be at the Murray's mouth by the 10th of January. Our boat is a 4.7-meter-long displacement hole with solar panels on the roof, and a 2.1 kW motor. It has a top speed of 5.5 kn or (10 km an hour)
The reason we have picked Dementia Australia as our charity of choice is that my mother-in-law passed away from Lewy body dementia and my friend who helped build the boat mother is currently suffering from dementia.
My parents will be supporting me along the way by dropping me off at the starting point and assisting me with supplies and equipment, I may need on the journey. Closer to the event, there'll be a link so that you can track my journey along the way in the Speed I am travelling at.
We have paid for all the build costs, travel costs, and out-of-pocket expenses and do not expect any money in return but would like to see all the money we can raise go towards this worthy cause.
We need your help! Please make a donation to support our efforts and help me reach my goal of $10,000 or more and help cure this debilitating disease.
All funds raised will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.
