My target 156 kms

My dad and I are actually aiming to run 78km's during the month of November. My mum turned 78 this year, the year she was diagnosed with dementia.

Running has been a part of my dad's life for as long as I can remember. He passed on a love of running to me and my siblings. It seems only fitting to complete a challenge like this with him, to do what we can for mum and others who are touched by dementia.

Please help me reach my goal by making a donation. It only takes a minute and any amount you can give will go a long way to fund medical and social research and support the vital services, support groups and education programs that Dementia Australia provides to people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Thank you for your support

Complete Marathon to Remember!

My Updates

This is what it's all about!

Tuesday 24th Nov
A visit to mum and dad today really highlighted why doing Marathon to Remember is so important to me.

Spending quality time with them is a given.
But being able to have conversations about what's important to them and for them, the options available...and all the while all of us being more informed and having a better understanding of Dementia and what it means for life in general makes the future a little less daunting and hopefully each day more manageable and enjoyable.

So much of this is thanks to the work of Dementia Australia. The information, resources and support available is possible because of the financial support of generous people like my family and friends.

Running a few extra km's for a month is worth every step!

Fundraising target reached...again!

Monday 23rd Nov
We have clearly underestimated the generosity of people! The original target of $200 was reached within days of beginning this challenge.
Now, a week out from the end of Team Ryan's Marathon to Remember, and we have reached our new target of $780.
$799 and counting!

I shared this news with my mum today. Her response, "I really hope this can help other people like me"

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

Speaking from experience, I know there are people out there who will benefit from your generosity, though they may not know it yet x

10 days to go!

Friday 20th Nov
With 10 days to go till the end of Team Ryan's Marathon to Remember, we have 57km's and $60 to reach our new targets of 156km and $780.

We can do this!

A little bit of support makes a big difference

Distance and dollars are building!

Thursday 12th Nov
Not quite half way and the km's are fundraising totals are both building nicely. we're up to 33.5 km's, not counting the 2.5 km effort by Izzy the cavoodle this morning :).
A huge thank you to all those who have donated to this important cause - your moral support is incredible and your donations will enable Dementia Australia to continue to provide important services and programs across Australia.
