I'm raising funds for people with dementia!

Hi family and friends,

 

This December, I’ll be taking on the Busselton full Ironman once again, but this time, it’s more than just a personal challenge. It’s a tribute from the heart.

 

Two years ago, my beautiful dad, Peter, lost his battle with dementia. Watching him slowly fade, losing pieces of himself, sometimes not recognising the faces of those who loved him most was the most painful and heartbreaking experience for me and my family. There’s no roadmap for that kind of grief. But in the middle of it all, I found some solace in movement and setting goals that pushed me past my limits.

 

Completing the Ironman last year was something I never thought possible. It showed me a strength I didn’t know I had. And this year, I want to use that strength for something greater.

 

I’m dedicating this Ironman journey to my dad’s memory, to honour his life and raise funds for Dementia Australia, supporting vital research, services, and care for the growing number of families walking this difficult road.

 

Dementia is now the second leading cause of death in Australia and the leading cause of death for women. Over 433,000 Australians live with dementia today and without action, that number will nearly double by 2054. Over 1.7 million Australians are involved in caring for someone with dementia, each one represents a real family, navigating unimaginable challenges.

 

I’ve set a fundraising goal of $10,000 and I’ll be pouring my heart into the next 6 months of training to get there. But I can’t do it alone. I’m asking for your support through a donation. Every single contribution, no matter the size will go towards helping reach this goal. All donations are tax-deductible.

 

Your support means more to me than words can express. It’s the fuel that drives me forward, and gives this journey its true purpose.

Yesterday was truly something special!! Thank you to everyone who came along to Jen’s Race Against Dementia High Tea Fundraiser. It was so humbling to see so many familiar faces and some new ones too, all coming together for a cause so close to my heart. Your presence, your kindness, and your support meant the world to me, and to everyone impacted by dementia💙 🌟 Together, we raised $1,625! 🤩 But yesterday was about more than just tea and sweets, it was about community, compassion, and connection. It was about remembering, honouring, and continuing the conversation because awareness truly does make a difference. 🙏 A huge shoutout to our incredible guest speakers: ✨ Fiona from Dementia Australia for sharing your invaluable knowledge and insights ✨ Montana Burton, the founder of Ignited for lighting up the room and reminding us to keep reaching for our goals. You're warmly invited to the Jen’s Race for Dementia High Tea Fundraiser. A heartfelt event in support of Dementia Australia, raising vital funds for the many families impacted by dementia 💙
