Our Christmas Wish is to raise funds and bring joy to people impacted by dementia and their families this Christmas. No matter how far apart we may be, we can all virtually come together to make a difference and have some festive fun.

From our family to yours, have a safe and happy festive season.

My elephant will never let me forget. . .

Tuesday 1st Dec
Today with the support of two beautiful friends Sarah & Belinda I entrusted a wonderful artist Danyelle to create this cute little elephant holding a forget-me-not flower for my arm. As they say an ‘an elephant never forgets’ so with this little guy by my side and the ever beautiful dementia flower I’m in safe hands. I chose this to represent my character, warmth and resilience in my fight against this insidious disease that is the leading cause of death in women. Nell 💙💚💜

Me and my beautiful girl

Saturday 28th Nov
Sassy is such an important part of my life. She is always with me and never more so since my decline. She is always by my side and as soon as I recline my chair and get my blanket she snuggles in even closer. Sassy loves rest time no matter what time of the day. At night when I can’t sleep she is there making sure I am ok too. . . Whether we are up making a drink, watching tv or just having a snuggle together. Sassy truly is a girls best friend 🐩

Kylie & Nell

Thursday 26th Nov
‘Chefy’ as we love to call her is my fantastic support worker who cooks our family amazing wholesome and delicious meals to keep us all going. Kylie has been with us on various occasions in the past post surgery rehabilitation and I am so happy to have her by my side on this journey. Thanks a million ‘Chefy’ 💜💚💙

Sarah & Nell

Monday 23rd Nov
Sarah is one of my amazing support workers who ‘just gets me’ and I would be lost without her being in this journey with me by my side 💜💚💙

Taking each day at a time

Friday 20th Nov
Taking each day at a time is what I live by these days. . . Live for each moment and cherish everything and everyone because we do not know how long we will have them for.
No amount of money or stress, harsh words or anger will fix a situation but instead we should accept the cards we have been dealt and do what we can to make the most of the time that we have remaining . . . Whatever that may look like.
Too often people are quick to question or to blame the person that has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. . .
Do we stop and think how must they be feeling right now???
Should we be questioning them or supporting them?
Hugging them? Just being their for them. . .
Too often then not we are too consumed by our own feelings and how it will impact on our own lives that we often forget about the person that it is most going to affect - Your wife/husband, your lover, your mother/father, your sister/brother and the list goes on.
Quite often they are the glue that sticks the family together.

We need you to remember the person with the diagnosis needs your love and support and like me are doing our best at acceptance and are taking it one day at a time
