2026 - a year of change!

2025 was hard. In so many ways. So many things out of our control. 

Losing mum to dementia was only part of the challenges in our year, but it’s the one that I have chosen to focus on as there are known risk factors that we can influence and dementia is rapidly increasing as a cause of death in Australia. Also, my work in aged care means I am exposed to dementia on a daily basis and I see the devastating effects it has on patients and families. 

Mum was 76 years old. My own health was challenged in 2025 so this has inspired my 2026 goal….. to reduce my own risk factors and raise awareness of this awful disease.

I am setting an ambitious goal of raising $50 000 and I am aiming to run several marathons during the year to support my cause. It has been nearly 21 years since I ran the London Marathon……. Very slowly 😬. This relies on my body holding up (!) but I will do my best between now and the year end.
