I’m an author raising money for Dementia Australia so they can help more people as they helped me.
Caring for my father, who had dementia, was challenging for many reasons, including the fact that I lived half a world away. Just before I flew overseas to be with him, I had two wonderful phone conversations with people at Dementia Australia, one a staff member and one a volunteer. These conversations helped me immensely: I was given practical and emotional support that have had a long-lasting effect on me and my family.
I went on to write a book about the tumultuous but rewarding experience of caring for my father. The Year My Family Unravelled, a memoir that reads like a novel, was published by Affirm Press in 2023. I am donating 10% of my income from this book to Dementia Australia.
Please contribute too if you can and help spread the word.
Thank you!
