- Prevalence: Roughly 16 in 1,000 Australians have dementia.
- Death Cause: It is the leading cause of death in Australia.
- Gender Split: Nearly two-thirds (63%) of those with dementia are women.
- Age Factor: The rate rises significantly with age, affecting 84 per 1,000 people aged 65 and over, and 292 per 1,000 aged 85 and over.
