I'm raising funds for people with dementia!

Melbourne Indian Theatre is raising funds for people living with dementia.

Please make a donation to support my efforts and help me reach my goal to beat dementia.

All funds raised will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.

Why The Father?

Thursday 28th Sep
I have always been thinking that what we call “I” is a bundle of memories. We are defined by our memories. Every experience that we go through is stored as a memory and these define us.

But what would happen if that function of storing and retrieving gets corrupt?

I used to do a thought experience many times to imagine I lost my memory. First it was fun but then I started to get this unsettling feeling. And that’s when I saw a few promo clips of the play The Father. When I read the script I was stunned. The author Florian Zeller has used an ingenious device through this play to put you in exact same condition

After I saw the movie The Father I was speechless. Since then I wanted to bring the play to life to raise awareness about Dementia. I then realised that my grand father - whom we as kids made fun of - went through this condition and we had almost no awareness about it.

This play is my saying ‘Sorry’ to him. If we are able to raise the awareness even marginally I would be happy.

The Marathi shows - translation of The Father in Marathi were received extremely well by audiences in Melbourne.

Please come and join us on 21 October and 22 October at Clayton Community Theatre. Book your tickets now. Also please help us raise funds through donation.

Thank you to my Supporters

Guruji your commitment to the community and everything you do is beyond words. Thankyou for thinking and doing way beyond then most of the human beings do. Most of us are stuck in the chains of just thinking about our own selves. All the very best for this social cause and for your upcoming performance. Profound regards, Ashita
