I'm raising funds for people with dementia!

I'm raising funds Dementia Australia in memory of my lovely mama and to all those that know and have suffered through this battle and journey as a care giver.

But I need your help! Please make a donation to support my efforts and help me reach my goal to beat dementia. IF I can get out there every day with twin babies then you can do! Let’s do this together!

WELCOME to the 11th year “running” pardon the pun. PLUS there is so much more to celebrate this year!

Now a mum of twins baby girls that just turned one! Which has been an incredible journey. 2024 certainly has been nothing but boring! A year that i never thought i would have experienced! We have been truly blessed with these beautiful souls it’s an incredible feeling having Christmas as a family, literally the best presents ever. 

Which drives me even more to spread awareness, get fit, healthy and hopefully my girls will carry on this legacy, as i defiantly don't want them to have to witness myself or anyone they know to go through this disease.

As most of you know this is a cause close to my heart, and I know many others out there that have had loved ones taken to soon by this awful disease. 

Its the 2nd leading cause of death in Australia!

My mum suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for around 10 years now I think about it, before actually being diagnosed. But truly suffered for the last 4 years of her life. The disease completely stole away the woman she was.

By the time we had to say goodbye ironically in a January month of 2018, I had not heard her voice in years. She had not recognised me fully for a long time and had completely lost any form of movement and life.

I want you to know I still remember her for the amazing woman she was. She was a remarkable person whose kindness, love and strength touched the lives of everyone she met. She bravely faced dementia, a devastating condition that slowly took her from us, but it could never diminish the incredible person she was.

Previously, I never knew what Alzheimer’s was. I didn’t know the harsh reality of the disease and this is why I want to help create awareness and also raise much needed funds for research to finally get a cure for this awful disease.

I’m a yoga coach and trainer not because of her, but because I’ve always had a deep knowing how mindfulness, and keeping fit are not only what I enjoy but are also a huge contributing factor of  the prevention of this disease!

They say it can stem from the heart so without regular exercise the brain doesn’t get the nourishment it needs! That’s why for now my 11th year running for this cause means so much to me and of the other beautiful souls that roam this earth that I care about deeply. So I like to start the new year right by doing 5KM a day for the whole month of January! You can walk, jog, bike, swim what ever modality that you choose. JUST DO IT YOUR WAY!

All funds raised will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.
